My girlfriend has a Ruger #1 chambered for 30 I.C.L. Her dad passed away some years ago and left her the gun. I know nothing about this cartridge. How would I get reloading dies for this? The only thing I know is that it's a 7mm mag case necked up to hold a 30 caliber bullet. Any info on this would be great!

The 300ICL Grizzly Cub listed in Ackleys book says it is made from the 338 or 308 Norma case. From the looks of it it seems to have a sharper sholder.

Midway shows casings and RCBS dies for the 300 ICL Grizzly. Dies are listed under "obscure cartridges".

Ackley's book number 1 mentions a .30/06 ICL Caribou, a .300 ICL Grizzly cub on a .338 WCF necked down, and a .300 ICL Grizzly which is a .300 H&H Improved.
My GUESS is that your '' .30 ICL'' is the .30/06 improved version.......
Only a chamber cast with cerro safe will tell for sure!
Happy New Year!

Might be the Cub, as he says it has a case like a 7mm Mag. These were about like the AI rounds, but they had a 45 degree shoulder. I used to watch them made at Saturn in Sparks, NV years ago. The Juenkes were neighbors. I had a 25-270 and a 7X57 I.C.L. My X-wife took the 25-270 in the divorce, and someone wanted the 7mm Tortilla REAL bad ($$$$$$!). If it is a true I.C.L. it will have a long throat, like Weatherbys have.

The shells that I have for it are 7mm mag cases. They have the 7mm rem mag stamp on them and it's necked up to a 30cal.

You have the Cub. It's a great round and is on par with the 308 Norma mag.

In reference to my post above I've found since that the casing length for the .300 ICL Grizzly is 2.805" so the casings and dies I mentioned from Midway of course will do you no good. I haven't come across dies or casings for the Cub.

You'll probably have to have them made. I can get in touch with Vern Juenke and see if he still has a set. I would doubt he does, but it is worth the call. Also, 300 Win Mag brass would be good for forming brass. You can run it through the 30 Griz-Cub sizer, then trim to length. You'll have headspace at the shoulder, as well as at the belt.

Wonder what more available .30 cal cartridge would clean that chamber out? Sounds like it could be an expensive proposition getting that Cub up and running.

I guess my girlfriends sister, who lives 6 hrs away, has the dies. They're packed away and she isn't real excited about looking for them. I will get them the next time she comes up....hopefully.

til later My guess is a 300 Wby (its just that, a WAG). Set back the barrel one or two threads, and be done with it. BMT

The I.C.L.s have almost no taper, and that has to be considered when re-chambering. RCBS has the specs and may be of some help in that regard.
