The way things are going (prices), I'd snag it, especially if it is 95% or better.

Is it 30-30 or 35 Rem?

For a 30-30 I think it is a bit high. $300 sound better to me.

Does it have a scope, base and/or sling. or wild west tigger or some other accessory that would be worthy of additional cost?

Just one man's opinion. And costs vary depending upon what part of the country you are located.

It has a williams receiver sight on it, and it's in 30-30. I went ahead and got it as my first rifle was a Marlin 30-30 and it's always been a favorite of mine. That one will go to my oldest son and I got this one for my youngest son so they'll each have one. Never cared for the newer ones with the safety very much, so am happy to have one for each of the boys. I think every boy should have a lever action 30-30 to grow up and hunt with. They're just plain fun IMO!

I think you have two lucky sons cool
And starting them off without glass is a very good thing in my humble opinion smile

At the store today I saw an 336AS on consignment. The metal finish was very good, but the wood had a crude refinish. The plug screws for the receiver sight mount were missing, so I suppose it had one at one time. The asking price was $300. Two days ago I saw a minty 35 Remington one at a different store and they were asking $320. I nearly bought it because of the low price, but couldn't justify a second one.

I just bought a new Marlin 336c .35rem. this year. I gave $445 for it at WalMart. They have the lowest prices on guns. I really like it. The new Hornady Leverevolution ammo makes a huge difference. My brother has a 70's model Marlin 336c in .35 and he won't use anything else. He's got a practically brand new 7mm mag. he leaves in the truck. I think you gave a bit much for it, but if it was in .35 it would have been a bargain.

Well, after giving it the going over, I'd say this is closer to 99% condition. The metal is flawless w/o any scratches, screw heads are like new, bore is mirror bright. Only thing I can find anywhere on it is two scratches on the buttstock, which is no biggie as I plan on refinishing the stock (never cared for the factory finish on them). I'm happy with the purchase even though I probably gave a little much for it, but IMO, it's worth every penny and I can't wait til the boy is big enough to put her through the paces.
