I have tried to ensure this is true and accurate before posting it here. Seems to be. If so there are some Dark Days ahead.... Ammunition Accountability Legislation Its already started...Ammunition Accountability Legislation Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo! The bill that is being pushed in 18 states requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture, providing a data base of all Ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded. Any privately held uuencoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011 (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your guns! This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona,California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky,Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington . Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!! To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to: http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm

Scary stuff, I looked it up on snopesand they are still confirming the validity, but it looks like it may be real.
I was thinking the other day how much I used to hate Bill Clinton. He was freaking George Washington compared to what they are now.

This was talked about before, but now that the socialists are in charge, it will be brought back big time.

I've got to agree to an extent. But I never underestimate the stupidity of a politician. Sure wouldn't want to be the guy that has to go door to door or come out in the woods to check your ammo....

OK, a little poking around on the internet...
In Alabama, the bill was dead as of last April.
In New Jersey, referred to committee last May 5. No further action.
In California, no such bill in process.
In Maryland, it died last March as a result of an unfavorable committee recommendation, and a strong showing by opponents at a public hearing.
That's not all the states listed, but it's all I have time to check. I'm not seeing any great groundswell of legislative support, even in very anti-gun places.

According to most of the stuff I've seen there are few if any law enforcement agencies for this. Even the Federal LEA don't like it. Claim there is no way to enforce it even if some how technology found a way to do it. Right now there is no good technology for doing this and there doesn't look like it's coming anytime soon.
I really believe there is a conspiracey between gun and ammo manufactuers with the Democrat Party to boast profits by using fear to get people to run out and buy everything in sight. There has not been any new technology in the firearms areana in 100 years. Sales are flat. Without scare tactics sales would be even flatter.
Don't vote knothead, it only encourages them. Anonymous

The company that owns the patent on the technology to encode ammo is behind it. Remington and Wimchester have already told several of these states they will not encode ammunition so any states that pass such wrong headed laws will find that they do not have to enforce it since few if any ammo companies will be able to import ammunmiton to these states. It is being done by state as the anti gunnunts figure they can mount larger support for it and the pro gun suppoerted will not have much if any. That is also why it is being done quietly with litle to no media attention.

These guys spent money to patent something and now they want to cash in the lottery. Greed is the motivator here, not public safety or crime fighting. Get a government enforced monopoly and your life becomes excellent. If this passes, I have an unencoded message ready to go.

I manage the trademarks, copyrights, and patents for our company, so I have to deal with patents regularly.
There was a Supreme Court decision a few months back that greatly devalued patents. They became harder to get, and much harder to defend in court. Further, anyone can make a patent holder come defend his patent in the plaintiff's court.
About three lawsuits, filed in, say, Anchorage, Honolulu, and Miami would put and end to this nonsense. Hey, we weren't the ones that invented that strategy...

Its good to hear this is a lot more hot air and posturing by the libs than reality. With the prices of reloading stuff soaring and the price of AR's and the like soaring it makes one wonder where to shooting sports world is headed...

Any state legislature that passes this crap will find itself out on its ass the first election after the first deer season where guys couldn't buy 30-06 ammo. Being that both elections and deer seasons are usually in November, they might not have long to wait.

I hesitate to even write this for fear the anti's will read it...but I think they're sniffing down this trail anyway.
I worked with a gentleman whose roots were in Mexico. He once told me if I ever got the opportunity to hunt there to tip the guide with ammunition.
He told me there were plenty of guns in Mexico in private hands, but only the wealthy, the government and drug runners had access to any ammunition.
