Very classy old rabbit gun there. Looks like a fine way to spend a day.

Now that's what I call a working gun, right there. How much you have to pay a 'smith to put that finish on? wink

Now, that's what I like to see. An old classic Winchester .22 still putting meat on the table.

I consider the Winchester 61 pump in 22LR and 22Mag some of the finest rifles ever made. I whish I owned a dozen of them.

Hunting rabbits is what I like to do best. I have shot them with a Colt SAA in 44-40

But I haven't shot one in over 35 years with a .22

You do, however, have to watch where you shoot them

Great pics,

My wife just asked me if you shot the last little cute guy. She will kill every jack she sees, but will not touch a "hare" on a cottontail.

The last little guy was released unharmed. I only blast the ones that are trying to get away.

I normally get in one to two really good bunny trips a year. I use a pair of 15x56 Swaro's on a tripod to spot them, a Leica LRF and my 7 Mashburn Super with Premier dotz to 700 yds and a 150 NBT.

Lets just say it's adequate... grin

(my bud hits them a bit harder than I do and he roasted 222 of them last winter)

Loved the pics! I run beagles and use either a 12 or 20 gauge with high brass 6s.

I hunt rabbits with my beagles. I use a Thompson Center Encore with .410 barrel. It is nice not to have to have dogs on a leash, and a long gun to tote around as well.

I've been pondering just such a rig. Nice leather as well.

I love my single-shot .410 over beagles, but I think the Encore would make it more manageable.

I really like the set up. it is a 12" barrel(I believe) and the holster is the Bandido by pistol packaging.

Last year I used my winchester 70 sporter 25-06 out to about 150 yards for deer season practice. Kinda tore 'em up but who cares? There's so many rabbits around here I treat 'em like varmints. This year I have a 44 mag revolver I'll try light loads with 180 grain cowboy bullets. I've also got a compound bow coming so I'll try to arrow 'em too.

single shot 410, sxs 410 and rem 870 youth in 20 gauge for bunnies. We have cottontails here. My brother lays down the law with an 1100 in 410 that used to be our mother's gun. When tree rats are on the menu, either the 20 ga or the glenfield model 20 with nikon 2-7. If I am pissed off, then I grab the 223 with 4.5-14 LR Leupold on it. I just picked up a Ruger single 6 in 22 lr with the mag cylinder, that needs to whack a few bunnies and tree rats. Unfortunately, I have never hunted over a good beagle for rabbits, so its beat the brush and whack em when the flee. Would love to plink em with a 22 to save the meat a bit more, but that's pretty tricky in the thick brush.

You`re right on that one ADK4Rick. I haven`t hunted here in years, but run my hounds quite often. I travel down to central part of the state to find more of an abundance. The deer are thicker than fleas around here though. I do my hunting in Pa., and Vt.
I`m retiring this summer. If I can sell my place here, I`ll be moving back to my place in Wy. When I run hounds out there, I always carry a side arm. In Wyoming, everthing eats beagles.
