Purchasing my first varmint rifle. Going for a .223 cal. Would like to put a Leupold scope on it. Never used a high powered scope before. Wondering if the "Varmint Hunter Reticle" is a good choice? Or is it to busy with all the dots and lines? Hunting coyotes, sage rats, and jack rabbits.

Put the VHR on my 257 Roy this fall and love it.Kiled a deer at 200 yds and a couple of yotes out to 400. Range it, put the right line on the kill zone and pull the trigger. Awesome

I recently picked up a VX-III 6.5-20LR that had that reticle.

I would still be happy with just a fine dueplex. But it isnt a big deal. Yes it looks kinda busy but in reality it isnt. Kinda like shooting an open sighted rifle with both eyes open. You see the sights but yet you dont see them.

The crosshairs are acctually finer than they appear in the pic.
