I just bought a Tikka in .270 t3 lite. Of course you don't get to play with as much as you would like, plus the store I bought it from is in the next state (I live in CA). Anyway. after getting it home, I was sliding the bolt in and out using the release on the left side. After having the bolt in my hand, it seems to have the ability for the black cocking mechanism, (the one that slides forward when you pull the trigger) to rotate slightly. Well now it is in that position and I can't get it to return all the way into the rifle and then seat down, ready to shoot. The head is rotated and won't seem to rotate back so it will go al the way in. Any help would be appreciated. Other wise, happy with the gun.

Is the firing pin protruding through the hole in the bolt face? If so then you have un-cocked the bolt. You need to re-cock it again, and this is quite difficult on a new T3 (BTDT) as the firing pin spring is new and strong.

I did that with a Tikka bolt. It took an old rag to get enough grip and a bit of muscle to get it back into cocked position.

Thanks to both MikeNZ and Granger!!!! Got it done using lots rag folded over in the vice. After knowing the problem as you identified it and the idea around the fix.
