Has anyone here used the Krist conversion cylinders on a Pietta '58 Rem. I like the idea of being able to go back and forth between BP and brass cartridge. Also has anyone here used BP in the cartridges? I enjoy cap and ball shooting but if the weather here in Nevada is too hot I can;t use BP at the indoor ranges.

As long as you stay with CAS loads they work very well with smokeless, as to BP, they also work well with that. You do know you need a steel frame revolver with the conversions?

Yes I do. Been researching it for a while and have looked at all the options. They have a service that will cut a loading port into it to make it a full conversion and then re-blue the cut. I might go that way. When I bought it a couple of years back I knew enough to get the steel frame.

My plan is to have a pistol and a rifle in .45 LC so this would be the best way to go for me. i currently have a rifle/pistol combo in .32-20. A Winchester 92 carbine and an old Spanish clone of a S&W.

I think you will like it. As to the combo's, that was fairly common in the later days of the 19th century and makes a lot of sense.
