Any recommendations for a red dot scope that would be mounted on a S&W 686 (special version which has a 5 inch barrel)?

I have a Bushnell "Holosight" on my shotgun. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be awesome on a handgun. I think it's just great for wingshooting.

You might look at one of the Ultradot sights, too. The 1" model is quite compact (for a tube sight) and is TOUGH. Thousands of them are mounted on the slides of .45 ACP bullseye guns.
