I was at an auto dealership this afternoon getting work done on a vehicle. The lobby and hallways of the dealership have tile floors. I could turn my back to the lobby, listen to the approaching footfalls and determine if the person walking was a man or a woman.
I can't describe the sounds but they are distinctly different.
