I'm getting ready to buy 1000 44 mag cases. I've used Winchester and Remington for many years with no complaints. Is there any brand out there that's better. Starline maybe?

I use Winchester and it lasts fine. But I load a 240 SWC to about 1200 fps (not hot).

Starline is at least equal to the other cases. They are usually less money also. Just had a brain %!&#* and can't remember for sure but I have also used some stuff that I believe was called Top Hat that was very reasonably priced and of good quality.

Honestly, I don't know of any makers of "bad" .44 magnum brass. They've all worked well for me. The vast majority of mine are Winchester though.

Starline, Win, Rem in that order for me

For what it's worth, I've noticed that Brian Pierce uses a lot of Starline. And he seems to know what he's doing.

Personally, I've got a lot of Winchester brass because, well, I don't know why, actually. Must have been on sale.

Win seems to hold up like iron, as did old Federals. Starline is mostly what I use and its good stuff too.

Good luck on finding any brass at all. Most of my sources are dried up!

Who made the stuff that had the Midway headstamp? Was that done for them by Starline? If so, it's pretty good stuff. I've been using the same 500 or so nickeled cases for about 20 years. Many have held up to 30 or more loadings. I really prefer WW to Remington brass in most instances but I had better luck with Remington than WW in my earlier .44 loading. Coincidence or not, don't know. I'm buying WW mostly now when I buy new .44 brass.

Thanks TOM and everyone for the advice. Looks like I'm going to have to take what I can get from Win. Starline or Rem. thanks again and feel lucky to get them.

Just to let anyone needing brass know, Midway USA is expecting their shipment in around Tuesday of next week and Natchez Shooters Supply by next Friday the 23rd. I looked at several other suppliers and no one had any 44 mag. brass. I'm going to get stocked up on it next week. There goes the credit card.

I have used R-P for years but I am thinking of trying out 500 sytarline cases. I need to buy from starline anyway since my 458 Socom uses brass I can only get from them. The prices they list for 45-70 and 50-90 are the best I have seen in a while as well.

Remington works best for me on a Dillon progressive. It seems to size easier. When working single stage, I see little difference and have excellent brass life with all the aforementioned brands.

I think Remington is a bit softer than Winchester and resizes easier, both seem to last about the same amount of time.

Nosler's pro shop, but shh, it's a secret . Shipping is like $12 a order, so pickup some .44 cal seconds to make it worth while for the shipping.

TOP BRASS is the other name. They are a quality maker and the cases are very consistent. I buy both my magnums and my special cases from them. They are fairly thick and last a long time.
