After seeing how they performed in various test mediums, and reading many dozens of post on numerous sites about their performance, I elected to use other brands. I don't like testing products on live game without knowing how they work before hand.

If you like them use them. I will never own or use anything produced by BPI or Traditions.

I like Randy & Toby a lot. They are professionals. They have provided a great service to the hobby. They do what they can to keep people from wasting their money. I wouldn't trust my bullets performance to anyone's articles. I test them myself. I have been for over 40 years.

I really don't believe that someone that is into muzzleloading that much would put there faith into people that get upset if an company does not pay them to make a good review of there products.

barnes is a great bullet. none of the gunshops in my area can keep the sizes I want on the shelf, I am not a big fan of mail order. like the handle stuff before I buy.

how the epa is going on lead, all companies may have to go to all copper bullets to make it.

Tried both the Shockwaves shot much better out of my rifle so thats what I use. I can say the terminal performance on deer of the Shockwaves is impressive.Powerbelts might work fine but if you are shooting an Encore and it behaves like mine save your money dont buy the Powerbelts.

Encore not shooting conicals is no surprise.

Rodger that I know the twist rate on the encore is more toward sabots.

Just saying if you have an Encore and are thinking of Powerbelts save your money.

no its not the twist. TC tried telling me that once and i just laughed and said Riiiiiiiight, i see.

QLA on TC's are not exactly what you'd call quality items they put on the end of their barrels. Their rifling is also extremely shallow but i dont know if thats one of the bad things for conicals or not. Most of the time its that darned QLA.

My Encore shoots powerbelts very well. 348's, not 405's. Never tried anything lighter than 348. At the range once, I was shooting groups at 100 yards. There was a guy waiting for a spot and he looked at my target through the spotters that are provided by the range.

As I packed up my stuff he said " wish I coulg get my .270 to shoot groups like that." Said his groups were 2-3".

I always heard the knock on X's and TSX's was that they don't open up at low velocities. How do their ML bullets do at muzzleloader velocities?

I will say this final thought on the subject. I have yet to test the Barnes and Hornady bullets. Will very soon though. Although I am a little suspect of the PB's and how they hold together, I don't believe their performance in my test should keep me from giving them the final test. And that would be to shoot an Elk and a deer with them. In my rifle they are extremely accurate and I wouldn't want to turn my back on that very positive aspect.
I see enough oportunity in my future to put them to the ultimate test. Hopfully I will put them all to that final test. Good hunting.

barnes expanders open nicely. they have that huge hollow point that allows it to open quick. They just dont make conicals.
