Oh boy. That's a real special one. Special xtra holes all over it.
When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Well, it is a pre-mil anyway:) Not a collector, but I personally don't think the holes make it too ugly to hunt with. What caliber?

[/img] Now this is a first for me! How in the heck do you drill and tap into the side of the sear screw! Bubba at his finest. More holes than a piece of swiss cheese! Blair

300 would be expected as for caliber, as for money, ass for every seat.

but wait theres more,
The forearm was cracked and repaired with 2 metal pins.
The sling swivel on the forearm was put in place where the forearm couldnt be removed.
Now, for the real kicker.....it didnt have the original barrel, Im guessing the barrel was at least 20yrs newer.

Ok, I'm thinking I wouldn't want this as a shooter either - and certainly not at the price it sold for. Within the last few days, someone made the statement, "prices are finally starting to come down." Seems this is not an example of that. Blair - regarding the sear screw - maybe they just really wanted to make sure that sear screw stayed locked in place I've seen many guns were a larger screw is locked in place by a smaller one.

I'm thinkin 100$ would be a stretch form here.

Looks like it originally had a side mount of some description, there are two extra screws on that side, one in the sear screw and one in line about a few inches towards the muzzle. Then redrilled and tapped for a top mount.

Lozen: Thanks for the link to the ultimate insanity! I got a real good laugh out of that one! Never, ever thought that I would see something that ridiculous!
If I were the seller, I'd go out and buy a Lottery ticket. It's GOT to be his lucky day!

I noticed in the bid history on this Marlin that since around $500, two guys have been slugging it out. One guy has no feedback and the other one piece of feedback. This correlates with what looks like some serious inexperience when it comes to purchasing firearms. Dumb and dumber might be another way to put it.

Now the question is: Will the winning bidder actually pay that ridiculous price?

That's always been my worry when I've sold something on auction and the high bidder has no feedback. I usually brace myself and say, "here we go." With this auction, the fact that dumb outbid dumberer, makes it all very iffy.
