Won't have an LBC Steve, c'mon, you know better. Joe has it right on the date.
Joe, you sure on the v-thread, I was under the assumption that anything before 70 had the square thread, and the 70's started the V-thread. But I could be wrong. Les Les, dude... the LBC's continued up until 1970, so it should have one. And the V threads started in 1960 with the new barrels.

Doesn't matter though, i personally still think the serial number is the more correct dating of the 99. LBC's seem like an afterthought to me. I look more for the serial number than I do LBC, one of the wise men from here got me to this point. Les

Used to have a 30-30 model 170 stamped with a 1970 date code but got rid of it for a 1982 170 in 35 Rem.
Never saw that thread before, first time I've heard of a 71 marked Savage.

Thanks. Maybe that's why I never heard of it. I haven't had a beer in years, but I was partial to Blue back then.

Actually ....no, I'd drink moose pizz and swamp water before I had one of them. I see the gun sold this morning so I'm guessing he bought it.

Back in the day when I was a gun salesman for a living, I sold a lot of the Savage e models, and an awful lot had mis matched wood, new right out of the box. hard to find a stain that will match up on cheap wood.

Hey, I was raised on Red, White and Blue, and Pabst, they aren't that bad. Now I drink Shiner Bock and lots of Blues.
