Armed with the knowledge I have gained on this site I am going to head to the Crossroads of the West gun show in Vegas at the end of the month. Hopefully I will come home with a new 99 EG or better (really love a Schnabled fore stock). Unless something else catches my eye and I really want it I'll stick with the .300. This way I only have to buy one caliber of expensive bullets. As it is I have to buy .32-20 Win which cost a bit.
At the very worst I'll pick up a Marlin .22 lever gun for my girlfriend. She wants something she can shoot that doesn't kick and is cheap to take to the range. Gotta love a country girl.

Since it is obviously based on the Savage 99 design, what would be a good price range to look for the Ruger 96 in .17M at the gun show. I think the girlfriend would like this. It could be her "mini 99".
