I could not find a scope to fit my .22 WMR, until I found a straight tube 4x Bushnell. More power would be nice, but it works fine on crows and pigeons at 100 yards or more. I still am waiting to use it on a fox or coyote.
I was looking at a Bushnell Sportview 3-9x32 AO Airgun scope for one of my nice .22s ($185.00 MSRP on sale for $79.00), and ran across a new 3-9x32 gloss Sportview for $30.00.
Has anyone ever used one of these Bushnells or other lower end centerfire scopes on a .22 LR? I know the parallax is set for 100yds, which is why I was looking at the airgun scope with AO.

There are better solutions. Depends on what yopu want but you van get a Mueller APV 4.5X14AO for $115 shipped to your front door with a sunshade From Mizzou Mule. Optics are stunning. Very clear and bright. I have 3 of them and will be ordering at least one more.

That's too big for me on a .22 LR. I like those mounts! What are they?
I have a 4-12x40AO airgun scope on there now, and just want a more sleek, gloss scope to match the high-end .22.
I have an inexpensive but surprisingly good 6x42mm on a Marlin Model 60 as a practice companion to the same scope on a .308 and on a .223, as well as a Kahles 6x42 on another .308. It looks funny on that slim .22, but works for me. Your Marlin looks like a Model 99.
I am interested in hearing more about that Mueller APV 4.5X14AO for a load development scope that I could move rifle to rifle. I am looking at a Swift 6-18x44 and an EA Brown 4-12x40AO, which would be small enough for me on a hunting rifle. I like smaller scopes.
I did go ahead and buy the Bushnell Sportview 3-9x32 at lunch for $28.00 out the door. Focus starts getting fuzzy inside 30 yards, but I don't need a scope inside 50 yards if the rifle has iron sights.

Those mounts look like Talleys and the rifle looks like a Ruger 10/22.
Not glossy, but Natchez Shooter Supply has matte finished Simmons Whitetail Classics in 3.5-10x40 and 3.5-10x50 on sale for under $70. I have mounted a few of the 3.5-10x40s and they seem to work pretty well. I put 1 on a Ruger 10/22 17HM2 converstion for a guy back in 09/08 and he's run a couple thousand rounds through it without any trouble. The 10/22 to 17HM2 conversions cycle the action pretty hard, so hard that you need to install a synthetic buffer rod or the action can crack, and this scope has held up to the punishment without fail.

I never saw a 10/22 with checkering. But then, I am the only man in America who has never fired a 10/22, much less owned one.
The Mueller website says that scope is not rated for magnums. For handload workup, I need a scope that can take some recoil.
I have an older Simmons Pro-Air 4-12x40 AO, with 1/8 minute target knobs, and it is a fine scope for a .22. I just want something a bit more sleek and glossy to match the rifle it is on.

I have 3 weaver 6x on 22 rimfires. At $120 they work well. Allan

I have used various models of the lower end Bushnell centerfire scopes on 22's for years, they work fine. Even if they are the lower end scope they are still warrantied by Bushnell, but I have never had to use the warranty on of them anyway.
The only problem you may have is a slight amount of parallax at shorter ranges, if you are target shooting this is a problem, if you are using them for plinking, varmints, etc., it is not a problem. Also if you buy the model with the AO then it can be adjusted for parallax anyway,

I have used the Trophy 4-12x40 AO Airgun scope, now replaced by the Legend.

If you don't get one with AO, adjusting the parallax is really simple. Read the instructions on this site:
http://www.charm.net/~kmarsh/adjust.html
But, unless you are severely budget constrained, I recommend a Leupold 3-9 Extended Focus Range Ultralight model. It comes in gloss finish and is #1 in my book, although expensive at around $350.

Yes, I probably won't be satisfied until I mount a Leupold 3-9x33 EFR on my A-Bolt .22 Gold Medallion.
I may be getting a NIB Vari-X III 3-9x40 on a trade, and sell it off to finance the .22 scope.
I am happy with this Bushnell for $28.00, though. I can always move it to a .257 or .223 walk-around rifle.
It's slightly off subject, but the Burris Rimfire scope with PA are great scopes, but now discontinued. They are apparently merging the .22/airgun line withe the short magnum line. That will bring down the cost from $300 - $469.00 down to about $220.00.

Why not get the VariX-III (3.5-40x40?? or VariX-II?) paralax adjusted to 50 yards by Leupie? Where does one still find a NIB VariX-anything these days?

I found the Leupy in the box the same place I found the 30-year-old high grade European rifle it was bought for, but never mounted - in the gun safe of a 94-year-old gentleman. He was still using the iron sights.
A 3-9x40mm scope is larger than I like on most centerfires, much less a rimfire. The Burris Rimfire PA scopes are a good size for my tastes, or a 4x32 or 6x33 gloss Leupold.
