"It may not have been that long, even. We'll probably never know, because, unlike G.W. Bush, Kerry refuses to allow his military records to be released to the public."

What, the records of a drift dodging lowlife drunk! LOL Rock on, Larry. The mentally incontinent can always use another spokesperson. Please give my regards to Daryl and Daryl, by the way, ... I'm a big fan. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> (Hmmmm, .... may have to try out that "ignore" button, myself.)

Walker--it was made for people like Larry. Life is too short to argue with idiots.

Hey Larryboy! What's a "drift-dodger"?
Why won't your boy Kerry release his service record? Why do you start calling Bush names when asked Kerry-questions?
You often mention that, unlike most on this board, you've paid your dues. Can I take that to mean that only folks like you are productive and eligible members of society? If you really feel that way, why not reinstitute a draft, so everyone will pay their dues?

Buttercup, I am all for reinstating some kind of draft similar to that of yesteryears. During the 50s/ 60s and early 70s every young guy going through high school knew it would need to be addressed sooner or later. Without it the rich pay no dues and say charge on enlistee, will build another Memorial wall with your names. Then after the rich make their fortunes dress up like hell angels , buy motorcycles and take Memorial day off with their friends to drive around the wall saying to themselves, we could have done a better job.

You are profusely full of s h i t. Think about what you're proposing. A draftee military would be inferior in just about every way possible to the professional volunteer military we have now. It may not be this conscientious debt to society that you envision, but it's small, tough, and mean. And full of people that actually want to be there.

Matt, it's like arguing with a dog. Give yourself a break---use the force. Hit the ignore button.

John Kerry has my total support for president, and that's a whole lot better than supporting a lowlife draft dodging self-proclaimed born-again Christian drunk. I take it then that you think he's a step up from Clinton?

There is no question our volunteer military is superior to a military loaded with draftees, all of us draftees know that. Myself, I volunteered for the draft, but, the fact is, draftees served for 2 years, about enough time to train you to do a job, then we got out of the service. From a fiscal prospective, why train someone only to loose them in 2 years? A volunteer force is better trained, and probably higher motivated than a drafted soldier, sailer, airforce or marine. This isnt to take away from a draftee's service, that isnt my point.

I thought that being a "former drunk" was a good thing. He turned his life around and committed himself to becoming a better person. He is not perfect but much better than he was.
