Later... You would be surprised - recoil isn't bad at all even without the muzzle brake. Properly fitted stock and good recoil pad make all the difference in the world. Those guys at AHR in Corvallis know just how to do it right. Of course, once those 900gr pills start leaving the barrel at something around 2,400fps ...

Here's what I have pics of handy, from top to bottom; all Ruger #1's: #1AH in .25-06 (I know, not in the category, but it was already in the pic.) #1 Tropical in .375 H&H #1 Tropical in .416 Rigby #1S in .45-70 (definitely the hardest kicker in the bunch)

Apparently sportsfan7292 can tell a lot about a man from his rifle. Actually, when I first received the rifle and opened the box. I did have wood.

Skeezix, Did I understand you correctly that the 375 H&H doesn't kick as bad as the 45-70?! I'm assuming that's with MAX No.1 45-70 loads? I see the 45-70 is smaller, maybe that's part of it? Which one do you feel hits harder at the game end?

#1S in .45-70 (definitely the hardest kicker in the bunch) And least effective! I bet G. Custer would agree with me.

My friend's Marlin shooting 400g bullets at 1800 fps hurts. My 375 H&H shooting 350g bullets at 2300 fps is a pussycat. I think the narrowness of the stock at the butt, and the lightweight of the marlin makes the difference.

Thats a really nice looking Montana actioned rifle Phoenixdawg. Gotta have some details, did MRC do the barrel and chambering? Also caliber and capicity of the mag? I'm interested in MRC actions as I've one on order. Rodney.

My 1895 XLR in 45/70 DRC lever, Brockman sites and Levergun Leatherworks leather! My 416 Remington Sako Action, 26" Bison half round/half octagon barrel. Junk B&C stock that came with the action until I change it out. Shoots very well.
