Like most guys, your profile doesn't list where you live, but if you are near Phoenix, you two should visit the NMLRA Winter Shoot at the Ben Avery ranges February 11-16. More information is at NMLRA.org.

T/C Triumph. Very accurate and easy to clean. This would be my greenhorn opinion. The Triumph is my first ML. Been in the sport a grand total of 4 months. Still love that Triumph though.
Almost forgot. I have killed several 50 gallon drums. Six or Seven 5 gallon buckets and torn up alot of paper. Hope this helps :-)

I have a CVA Optima Pro thats about 3 years old with a Nikon Omega BDC scope. Good gun, safe, cheap. I think the scope was more than the gun. It's demised 9 deer so far. I just bought my 11 year old a CVA Buckhorn, he loves it. Let him choose in my opinion. The thing I keep stressing to my son is the need to keep it clean.

My son did the same thing-saved up his money and bought a Buckhorn. The only thing I could imagine that could be simpler than this gun would be throwing rocks at em. Very dependable-easy to maintain, ready to take a scope if that's your fancy, and the darned thing shoots those Powerbelts just great. If I wasn't so satisfied wiht my .54 CVA Hawkins, I'd pick one of these up in a heartbeat.
