This rifle is a one-of-a-kind. It is a proto-type for a German version that was never released. Not by Remington, but a group of german investors. The gentleman I purchased rifle from, purchased it in Germany, at a gun show years ago. Rifle is short, light weight and handy. The basis is a Remington 600 Mohawk, in .308 Win. Period Conetrol rings and mounts. Williams steel bottom metal. Full-Length Bavarian walnut stock with rosewood pistol cap and white diamond. Leupold 2 X 7 Vari-X Compact scope. Metal looks to be in 99%, wood is 95%, with some very minor marks in finish. I will sell for $675 without scope, or $875 with. I always leave out something...... 18.5"1978 date of manufacture bbl marked: Remington Arms Company, Ilion, NY Made in USA 308 Win other side of bbl.: rep in an oval, some proof marks I can't tell what they are.

Does it have filler screws in where the front and rear sights go?

The rifle has only made one trip to the range with me.
Shooting South African 7.62 NATO surplus ammo, I put three rounds in a 1.5" circle at 100 yards consistantly.
Have not shot anything else through rifle. I would expect accuracy to only be better with modern hunting rounds etc.

That is a sweet little rifle, and I get weak knees around "mannlicher" stocks. Throw it on Gunbroker with the right key words in the title: mannlicher, Remington 600 etc.
I bet it will bring what you want.

Beautiful, a liking for mann/style also. I always replasce the dogleg b/hndl with traditional butterknife though, CNC'd several of them a while back.
I have several, and built many more, would you believe 99 savage in 250 sav. in tigr stripe maple?
What you have is more a custom than a prototype(IMHO).
VERY REASONABLE PRICED!! Would cost more than twice that to build now.
