This rifle has been a long time in the making, but it's working out pretty well. The action is a NULA Model 20 with a Douglas #1 22" barrel in 308. The barrel and action are cerakoted. Timney trigger with a three postion safety. 3" magazine box and long throat. The stock is an MPI microlight kevlar/carbon fiber built by Rick Steinhour. He did a great job and the stock came out great, a hair over 16oz finished. The pistol grip and fore end 'handle' help with shooting a rifle this light off hand (it shoots very well off hand) The bare rifle weighs 4# 9oz. With Talley 1-piece bases, Leupold 2-7x33 VXII and flip up caps it tips the scales at 5# 6 3/4oz. It seems like it's going to shoot really well. At this point I've tried Hornady 150 Interlocks, Hornady FMJs and Nosler 150 Etips. All have shot under an inch (the Etip gave me a little trouble, but at least two loads went well under MOA).

How do I find Rick Steinhour? I have a NULA that needs thumbhole stock.

Thanks AHM,
No, the sheep was taken with another rifle, this rifle hasn't been hunted with, yet. The sheep wasn't a planned part of the picture, but I was looking for something in the room on which to prop the rifle and it worked out better than anything else.

I love it!! I don't know what they call it- I bought the stock from SKane here in the classifieds. I'd call it urban camo. I'll try to get some pics in better light this weekend.

I think urban camo has blue in it somewhere. Maybe where this one is black? Looks great and since it don't have the blue you should be able to kill more stuff- grin.

smy1, I like that new rig! What barrel length did you use?
Also, would you use it on Elk or larger?

Thanks! 26" barrel. I would use it on Elk, but I have a 300 Weatherby and a 338 Win Mag as well. Probably need to post those here someday.

I've got something similar to that last .264 Win Mag, and yes Blargon, I've used mine on elk. She's no safe queen, I actually do take her out hunting. Blueprinted Remington 700 (Single Point method) Lilja #3 27", .264 Win Mag Curly Maple Stock from Great American (Laurel Mountain Forge Honey Maple stain reduced 80% with denatured alcohol, two coats LMF Sealer, many coats of LMF Permalyn Finish) Glass bedded Teflon Coated 65 gr. IMR 7828 SSC, 140 gr Nosler Partition, Federal 215 Match Killed two elk and a doe deer with her this year, but wasn't quick thinking enough to put her into the cow elk picture.

Very classy build Mr. Ex. Where does it balance with that 27" barrel?
And congrats on breaking it in on some fine animals.
I should have just bought a [bleep] T3...

Thanks Yukonal, She's pretty front heavy, balances around the middle of the forearm. But it helps her swing nicely on running deer like that doe I shot in the Maine woods. Kinda out of her element, she belongs here in Colorado, but I wasn't about to leave her at home for my buddy's first deer hunt.
