Lots of use for the Macaw feathers among Atlantic Salmon fly tyers. The idea though is using matched pairs, either to use the whole feather or snipping out mirror-image parts of paired feathers.

They are selling on ebay for a few bucks...
http://cgi.ebay.com/macaw-feathers-extra-small_W0QQitemZ250371731242QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item250371731242&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

If the seller had any sense the heading and description would include fly tying and other craft terms so more searches would drag the auction up. This is the highest bid price on there now and about the highest I have seen.

The Atlantic salmon fly tyers do some amazing things...

That link does not get you directly to the photos I was trying to link. Click on the "tying Contest' in the column of buttons to the left. Then on '08 winners. The winner in the free style is mostly macaw... The feathers you see in front are exactly matched on the back side, hence the thing about pairs.

Here is another fly tied by someone in the UK obviously using the macaw tail.
