When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Very good deer, and with open sights! Better eyes than I have.

Still waiting for a nice one with the 1931 Model G...
Passed on a big 8 point this year with the Model G in my lap...rattled him in...let him go... Two minutes later I'm saying to myself...
Shezz...you dumb@$$ That was him! Never saw another big one the rest of the season!
Texas hunts...so usually a 75 yard shot or so...doable with open sights. All neck shots... That seems to go well...

I made the same mistake this year. A lesson I will not forget. You go so many years getting one that you forget what it feels like to come up empty. No backstraps, no jerky, no fun.

A friend has a saying. " Never pass on a good shot for a better shot that you may never get."
Everything you now do is something you have chosen to do. Some people don't want to believe that. But if you're over age twenty-one, your life is what you're making of it. To change your life, you need to change your priorities.

I think hunters are born optomists.lol.For me it's been a matter of not wanting to end my hunting season too soon.Always thinking there's lots of time left lol.My buddy goaded me into shooting a 2 point this year and it's a good thing I did because he ended up being the last legal deer I saw last year.
I'm more of a meat hunter anyways but I'm still always thinking what if a big one steps out after I pull the trigger.
