I am thinking about fluting a #2 Rock Creek barrel. I really like the way the flutes look in another barrel I have, but I am thinking that flutes in a # 2 may not look good due to it being so thin. Does anyone have a picture they would share w/ me before I decide to have it done?

I can tell you this: Hart Barrels will not flute anything less than a #4 contour!

Just how thin or close to the rifling do you think you can get before the barrel comes apart?

A #2 Pac-nor is only a bit smaller than a Remington LVSF tube and Remington fluted that one in calibers from .17 to .30. A fluted sub-.284 #2 wouldn't frighten me.

I know its not exactly the same but I just had a #3 contour stainless Shilen barrel fluted and it came out looking really nice. It just has the standard straight flutes so nothing fancy but I like the way it looks - this is on a 7mm-08 barrel.

It will be for aesthetics only. The weight loss on a 2 has to be about 4 ounces.

A friend has a fluted PN #1 in .223AI and a fluted PN #2 in .25-284. The flutes are pretty shallow, but they look good.
