. . . to start looking and chasing those bears around. Anyone have any bear hunts planned soon? I'm hoping to go check out a spot tomorrow and glass for a few hours and see how those hillsides are looking. From talking to others and reading, they are starting to move.

Yup, in 2 1/2 weeks I'll be in Tok for our annual bear hunt. I know of a couple brown bears already taken and I cant wait.

It's been 4 years (or 5?) since the last bear, and I'm getting pretty tired of chicken, beef, and pork, having fluffed the moose hunt last year. I'm planning on some weekend spot'n stalk hunts (baiting is waaaaay to much work!)

Matt,

Cut my first set of lowland blackie tracks on Fri. last week. They were of medium size...I would say 4 to 4 1/2" pads, though in the dainty patch of mud they resided it was hard to be decisively accurate.

Will be putting the boat in at Homer next weekend to scout for early risers in Sadie Cove and Tutka bay. Always see a few last week of April. I have a young friend that just lives to run up mountains and he will be perfect for the task. I will stay in the boat and have a ring-side seat to view from! It will be better than watching t.v. that's for sure.

Though I was successful last season, I am now out of roast, sausage, and stew meat. Gotta have more and soon.

Goody luck on your scouting!

best,
bhtr

Man, I envy you guys. Having some bears to chase around in the spring, sounds like fun.

Only thing we have is turkeys and ground hogs !!

Won't get to take the big boomers out for real until the fall.

Although the thought has occured to me re. taking out the 7RUM for groundhogs. (that ought to make the mag hating crowd cringe !!!)

MAy 14-23 in Prince William Sound. Will be driving George and crew around in the inflatable looking for Black Bears. His mother keeps saying-"Don't you shoot that child's bear" The way I see it.. I am paying for his hunt, saving for his college, providing all of his gear so if he gets into a situation of having to make a difficult shot.....well that's what dad's are for

We are going out with Riptide Charters to the same place as last year. Hoping to bag a couple of big ones. Life is good indeed.

Hay sorry I have to go to adak for a month and a half. If you can still get Wane to take you out, you can use my jon boat and the 6 horse. Just don't sink it and also flush the motor when you get back. You better go!
