I have a Navy Arms Rolling Block with the straight pistol grip, trigger guard plate is brass.
Anybody know what it would take to put a pistol grip on it? Could the exhisting straight plate be bent or can a replacement curved plate be purchased?

Check with Treebone carving for one of their add on pistol grips. It's just a wood pistol grip you attach to your rifle as it is.

the most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

Math?Odds/Prefernce points and pure chance permitting I should draw a moose permit this year. Non trophy Shiras 100yds will be a long shot. Ihave seen and understand that gunwriters aside a generic 30-06 bolt gun will work but thats not what I want, I want something "interesting" in a "moose" gun.
Ive got 45-70 in Marlin levers and Sharps singles. I also have a Rolling block with a high quality 45-70 barrel thats too heavy. One option would be shorten to 24" or so and rebore to 50-90. Trim down the stocks and ideally convert to pistol grip. Other options are 1885's ,1895's, or Ruger #1 in various "interesting" calibers.
Suggestions? Comments?

One of the 45-70's or a 90 with a 520 gr paper patch bullet. Makes for one of the most spectacular oneshot stops I've ever seen on elk. Can't think why it wouldn't be just as nifty on a moose.
If I ever decide to try for a moose permit, I'll probably use my 95 winchester in 405, or my 45 2.3 with the paper patch, unless by that time I have a 44-90 bottle neck.....

It so happens that I have a pic of Treebone's offerings. I've been thinking of adding one to my .22 low wall

Going "large" for something "interesting" in a moose rifle needs no apologies. The #1 in 9.3X74R comes to mind as an excellent way to go "interesting." So would the 416 Rigby (and you sure wouldn't need to lean on it grin ), or the 300 H&H. Lots of interesting ways to make and "interesting" "moose" rifle. (And I've never considered the question before. wink I won't bore everyone with pics again.

I've been pondering an interesting moose hunt too. I'm due for a permit. It's an easy hunt here. I'll use an old lever action. A friend of mine hunted with a different gun everytime he went out this year. He's got some neat guns, including .50-95 Winchester 1876 and a 50-110 1886. He got his deer with a Win. 1901 10 ga. I'll probably do something like that. I've got a few old Marlin 1895's I like alot, and a .405. I think my favorite might be going "small" an 1893 SRC. .30-30.

I've had all that I wanted of alot of things I've had, and alot more than I've needed of some things that turned out bad.

It's hard to imagine those treebone pistolgrips on a gun. I was looking at something similar on the Shiloh site. I used to have a trapdoor with a metal one I liked the looks of alot better.
