I was talking with an acquaintance yesterday who claims to be going well in his investment world. He is well-to-do and has no reason to BS me on his success so I tried to pump him for a tidbit of insight. I couldn't catch it all but he mentioned a hookup with a group having a reference to LA but I missed the connection to an organization.

He pulled out of market funds just before the Dow hit 14,000 and he and his spouse are very negative about the future of the market. I don't know whether they went to commodities or metals or totally foreign investments but they do expect our DOW Industrials to drop to 700 in the not too distant future.

What do you think or know about this scenario?

he is crazy. The DOW will bottom out at no less than 2000

those companies who own "physical" resources should do well, shouldn't they? forests, mines, water, ag-land, streams, etc.

what backs corporate paper? physical reality or something else? i don't know, that's why i'm asking.
