Manufacturers ammo vs. Hand -loads

I'm sure there's those of you here with pros and cons to the subject, but has anyone ever had a misfire while shooting at wildlife? Better yet, can anyone think of any reason why their rifle ever misfired?

For the record, I'm not a big supporter of Hand -loads

I hate to say it but I had a miss fire shooting at at moose many years ago using handloads. I did not have the primer seated all the way and it did not fire. I just chambered another round and still got the moose. Never make that mistake again. I don't think the handloaded ammo is any better than the premium bullets available now. You should be able to finetune ammo for a particular rifle but not by much. The real benefit is I get to shoot at least twice as much for the same price. Smokey

Sure. It's just like having a puppet to play with. You can make him say any thing you want. Hang around and watch T Lee pull his string.

I hope you clowns are happy now---my lips are chapped from fishing all day in a gale, and I come home and check the campfire and you guys made me laugh so hard my freaking lips are bleeding. Nice going. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

You know it is almost sinful to tell a fellow fisherman you were fishing all day without elaborating on your fortunes. In other words, whatdya catch?

Rick--please excuse the oversight, but I was overcome by hysteria while reading the responses to our resident troll's latest idiocies. On to the fishing forum--but excuses first--SSE wind was 15 at sunup, then 25 gusting 30 the rest of the day. Fishing out of Delacroix, couldn't go offshore in those seas, so we (four of us) worked the marsh in canals and small bays, looking for clean water. Ended the day with 19 reds, 8 trout (they hate that dirty water), and 7 flounder. Smoked four cigars. Shot one nutria. All in all, a good day, considering conditions.

Sounds like a great way to spend a day. I miss ocean fishing, from my days in Fla. in the Navy, as the closest thing here is Lake Michigan. I love to battle a big chinook or rainbow, and muskie fishing here is alot of fun, but fishing in the bays and marshes off the ocean was always the most interesting. Never knew what you would pull up.
