IF you had a 29-3, 8-3/8" with a barrel which had rotated a bit to the left and IF you were going to send it back to the factory, and IF it was one of the most accurate revolvers you own, would you:

A. Have the barrel reset and pinned, or

B. Replace the barrel with the 6-1/2" version,or

C....

But then...I'm weird

Rotate it back to the right until it is straight . The pistol won't know the difference. All you have to do is use a small plastic hammer and tap it hard enough to move it back to right until it is straight

I don't typically change the barrels on my most accurate guns, but that might be just me. grin

Is your 29 pinned now?

This one has been back to the factory once, for the same reason. They reset and recrushed the same barrel but it did NOT stay in place. It has not been pinned in the past but this is an opportunity to fix it once and for all. If I leave it long, I expect they will use this same barrel again. I also have a 6-1/2" Classic but when I bought the 8-3/8" they were the hardest to get and the most desirable. Seems that these days many are going to the shorter barrels. Whatever I do, I plan to have the barrel pinned.

I'd just have it reset and re-pinned. If I wanted a shorter barrel, I'd get a Mountain Gun.

Or...you could find a 44 4" or 5" barrel and rebarrel the gun, saving the original in case of resale, etc.
