Around this old campfire are a bunch of gun nuts, and I know many have concealed carry license. I would like to see every one have a license or none required, make for a more peaceable society. Carjackings, road rage, breakins, burlary, rape, robbery, would bottom out if the crooks thought the victom had a gun. Would be like putting millions of plain clothed police on the street without costing the tax payers a penny. I have a question. What is your every day, favorite carry piece and why?

Sonnie,<P>The leftists have taken control in Wisconsin .... Concealed carry is not legal for the average subject here. If "permits" were available, I would refuse to apply for one, as I consider this a God given right. I'm funny that way. As they say, 'tis better to be judged by twelve than to be carried by six.<P>My most often carried piece is a Star model Super, in caliber 9mm Largo. It is an all-steel, single-action pistol with a 7-round single-stack magazine. It's like a very slim 1911 Colt, minus the grip safety. I'm not really a big fan of any 9mm, but it is so comfortable to carry, very reliable, a good shooter, and I think it cost $99 through the Shotgun News several years ago. (Not a huge financial setback if it were confiscated or lost, somehow.) It's one of those guns that just grows on you, like it or not. ~ Dan

my everyday gun is a 1991a1. i've never had a ftf (though i hear others have this problem w/ colts). it is plenty accurate, and there is a huge hole on the business end of it. it is controllable under rapid fire and/or double taps, and it feels great in my hand! don't leave home w/o it!

Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It is much more important than that.

Most of the time a S&W 342PD w/ Crimson Trace laser grips. Weighs practically nothing and the laser is great in low light situations, although I am thinking of going to a Taurus 85 hammerless in SS with the grips. A little heavier gun will be more comfy to shoot than this little hand biter! Also been known to pack a little Colt 1903 pocket mod. M in .32acp. This is when I need to be VERY discreet, like when we go visit my inlaws up near Chicago! Nice and flat and very easy to hide. I use to carry a 1911 all the time, but after about 25 years of that went for the lighter/ smaller ones for comfort. Yeah I know Bigger is better, but the circles I travel in these days are pretty safe and any gun you WILL carry is better than one left at home or in the car. At least thats my take. Kimber Ultracarry .45. There may be a few as good, there ain't any better.

no- I have the Kimber 3" Ultra Carry 45 ACP in stainless. It is a lot of gun in a small package. The gun shoots great but has a wicked kick. I had Horseshoe Leather make an inside the pants holster for it along with an extra mag pouch. For a backup I just bought a Seecamp 32 ACP. I put 50 rounds throught it last week with no jams. Right out of the box. I like the little pocket pistol. It is 4.25" long, 3.25" tall, and about an inch wide. Very easy to conceal on a medium frame person with light summer clothes. It was very accurate for a pistol with no sights. Just aim down the barrel. I think it will get more use than the 45. Good shooting. It depends on were I might think I'll be; but usually a HK 9mm Compact inside the belt. Somtimes a Sigma 380 or a Kel-Tec 32 when I need to be a little more discreet. They have all been put through the wringer at the range before I decided they were the ones that I would carry.<P>Still looking for a convenient way to conceal my Ruger Old Army 44. I have a MN permit to carry. My favorite gun to carry is a mini-rev in 22 mag. I don't think it would stop much & would have to be a close in shot. It is so small & easy to carry that I don't carry it much. I might go somewhere it is illigal to carry!

Star Model BM 9mm. Got it for a song and it fits ITW or most pockets with no problem.<P>It's extremely dependable and wear and tear aren't even a concern. I can throw it under the car seat, in a tackle box or whatever and not worry about hurting it.<P>However, since leaving the urban areas, it doesn't see much duty these days.<P>2D

Ruger 101. 5 shot, hammerless, small and hard hitting. Like tronskie, I live in Mn. Unlike tronskie, I don't possess a concealed carry permit, try as I may . Mine's a 1911 Colt, or like Kimber,.45. Inside the waist band w/o a holster. It hides better than a light 2 inch, the friction against the body makes it feel lighter, and it works. I wish I had a nickel for all the shootings I've seen/been around where the guy had carried a small gun, and regreted it. Or left it in his car, etc. instead of on his person. Yes, it is heavy. Yes, it is a bother. I would remind those that follow this philosophy that carrying a gun is an exercise in discipline. It starts with realistic selection, continues through application of uncompromising safety rules, and, hopefully does not end with the owner losing his gun, or his life, to a bad guy. E

Star Firestar in .45 ACP...<P>It's a little on the heavy side but fits nicely in a jacket pocket or tucked into my waistband ..<P>I shoot well with it and it packs a punch...<P>The .45 ACP seems well represented here....

When I carry, it is usually a stainless Firestar .45 in shoulder holster. I just haven't found anything else that carries comfortably for me and even that is a compromise. I'm still shopping for a good carry holster.<BR>I usually carry with one mag of Winchester Silvertip hollowpoints and a spare mag of the old Black Talon's. Don't ask me why, that is just what I had on hand when I loaded the mag and both shoot very well in this gun. On targets, it will print all 7 in about 2" at 25 yards with a little practice- more than accurate enough for a carry pistol.<BR>Sheister

My all time favorite carry gun is my Sig P220 .45, ususlly loaded with Rem 185gr +P Golden Sabers. During the summer months, however, I usually end up carrying either my Sig P245 .45 ACP or my Kahr 9mm loaded with Federal 115gr +P+ ammo.

I too have a CC permit. I carry a S&W Sigma in .40 most of the time. I have heard some bad things about the Sigma but I have shot about 1000 rounds through this one without a jam yet. It is accurate and lightweight. In the winter when I wear my bulky coat I carry a S&W 4" Model 19 Combat magnum. Well what else can I say about it, hits hard, accurate, simple and reliable. HOSS

Just got a Taurus Total Ti 85, with hammer, for my wife to carry. What a neat little gun, with a nice big hole in the end!<P>Got the spectrum blue finish and it is very pretty, to boot.<P>She is bugging me to get her the Crimson Trace grips for it now. The trigger has me amazed. It is a thing of beauty, either single or double action. My wife is tiny and the S&W centennial Ti this replaces was just too hard for her to shoot because of the lousy trigger.<P>Had looked at lighteneing the spring and stoning the Smith, but finally decided to get rid of it and get the hammer gun.<P>The only negative to the Taurus is a bit of rag stuck between the frame and barrel, obviously done during assembly. Not a real problem though.<BR>art

M36 S&W, (settle down now, it's an old one). PA is mighty fussy about concealment, so this one gets toted when all I'm wearing is a t-shirt over it. Anything is better than what you have left at home or in the truck, in my opinion. <BR>If I could carry anything I wanted to, without worrying about maximum concealment, It'd be some form of the 1911, in 45acp, naturally. A buddy has the Kimber SS Gold Match and it's a beaut.

In the summer its a stainless COP 357, a little heavy but 125's stuffed in all 4 bbls its intimidating as all heck. In the winter I usually go with a Sig 220 in the small of the back for a little more firepower. Bend

Springfield compact .45 with Wilson 7rnd mags full of 230gr hydrashoks, in a Bianchi "black widow" or IWB, depending on what I'm wearing. I've always liked the 1911's for carry because they are thin. And besides, what other auto and caliber is there? This particular one is a combination of an officer's frame and a barrel/slide that's just a smidge shorter than a commander. It's perfect. The short grip doesn't print too bad and the barrel is short enough that it doesn't poke me in the butt when I sit but long enough to balance right and shoot well.<P>BTW, I've never had a ftf with this gun - if I had I probably wouldn't carry it. The only ftf I've had in a 1911 was with crappy handloads (my fault) in a tight Kimber. -al

My latest carry gun is a Ruger GP100 stainless 3" I carry in IWB holster. In some reports the .357 125 are the tops in one shot stops. I switch off with this gun and a Glock 27. on really hot days I carry a Colt Mustang pocket lite. The IWB carry works best for me with all my short barrel handguns. good shootin, vbshootinrange...
