Happen to find a nice looking shooter 99E .308 today at a local shop. SN starts w/A469XXX. I'm sure it's been refinished but the wood is beautiful, nice grain. overall gun is very nice shape. What do I need to look at to make sure it has the original forend and stock. Do all these parts have serial #'s? It does have the lever safety. Price is a firm $599, I know this isn't the best place to ask for numbers but any info you can give me on price or anything else is great. Also, can anyone tell me what year this was made?

Thanks

Be patient dude. 600$ is about double what an E will fetch.
Shop some. You ain't gotta buy the first one that comes along.

99's aren't common down in Atlanta (I spent enough time looking), but I definitely agree with Jed that $600 is too much for an E. No to mention it's too much gun for those itty, bitty deer you have down there. grin

Keep looking, try to hit some gun shows and gun shops that are outside of Atlanta and you might have your best luck.

I've been to that show in Savannah. It was blotto. Best guns I saw were 2 m-37 Win's.

If your area seems to be short on 99s, I would start hunting Gunbroker.com and AuctionArms.com. Even after you pay shipping and transfer fees, you'll be able to find a very decent pre-mil 99 for the money you're about to lay out for a refinished E.
