What are your thoughts? Anyone have experience with this scope? I am thinking it would make a good fit for my ruger 96/22m. Unfortunately my simmons walmart scope does not hold its zero for very long anymore.

I've owned both the 4x and 2-7x. The quality and warranty are Leupold which is saying a lot but I like the Nikon Prostaff 4x rimfire or the Nikon 2-7x shotgun scope better for a rimfire scope and they cost a lot less.

I had the 4x on my 77-22 but sold it when I bought a Leupold 3-9 UltraLight Extended Focus Range scope. It is the same scope as the 3-9 rimfire but is has gloss finish instead of matte.

Thanks for the input. I have a leupold vx something or another on my 30-06. I like that scope a lot and leupold seems to have excellent customer service so that why I am leaning towards a leopold on my rimfire.

I have several Leupold 4x rimfire scopes on some of my .22's, and think them the "classic" scope for a quality .22 sporting rifle.
I seem to run across used ones semi-regularly, in local gunshops, for just under $100.

I have one of the 3-9 EFR's on my Anschutz .22 mag. It's a good scope.

VSSB, I've got a Leupold 4X rimfire on a Ruger Compact 10/22, a Leupold 3X9 EFR on a Sako Finnfire, and 2, 6X42mm Leupolds with parallax adjusted to 50 yards, one on a MK XX11 Weatherby and the other on a Ruger 96 22 mag. The 6X42mm is my favorite rimfire scope after having the parallax re-set. They work great for shots up to 25 yards. I like ALL the Leupold rimfire scopes! Virgil B.

As much as I'd like a higher end scope on my main squirrel 22LR I do just fine with an ole Tasco.
A Leupold 2x7 would be my choice however.
220 Swift still king.

I've owned the leupold 2-7 and the 4x I like the 2-7 best. Also owned the nikon prostaff it has much more parallax then the leupold.

I have regular big bore Leupolds on my 22s. I have used the 22 scopes in the past but never could tell any difference from a practical point of view and for hunting..My favorite 22 scope is the Leupold Alaskan 2.5X 7/8" tube, it looks good on a 22...
Frankly, after haveing compared them at 25, 50, and 100 yards I think the 22 stuff is mostly hype. The regular scopes work every bit as well, but not visa versa.
