long case life for a given cartridge? say 30-06, loaded to what is considered normal velocity (180 grain bullet, 2700 fps)

I've heard from those who should know that when a case is due for it's fifth trim- trash it. I never take them that far, but up until now brass has been cheap and plentiful. I may start working on getting more loads.

Personally, I like to see a case that will keep it's primer pockets tight for in and around 9 rounds. That will generally mean that I trimmed it 3x's during the life. Anymore than that and I call it a bonus.
Any less than that and I begin to wonder if I aint leaning on the round a bit much.

I generally go 10 loadings or needing the 4th trim. Like Dober, any less and I feel the load needs re-evaluating.
