I'm not trying to be smart or to start a fight but I have a question.
Why do so many posters use nicknames or handles instead of their names?
John Tyson

John, -- same reason we don't put our phone number or credit card number, too many trolls lurking around and this is seen all over the world. -- no

I've been talking on Bulletin Boards now for about 4 years. I guess I'm lucky because I've not had any trouble with trolls. As far as trying to keep my info private - I understand that if you post on the internet - "they" can find all they want about you. Besides, I spent 21 years in the Army so if someone wanted info on me they could probably find out more than they wanted.
I suspected it was for privacy. Don't you think it's false sense of privacy though?

John,
When o got the internet the first site I came across was at ShootersTalk and I noticed people had "handles". So I used Mike375 since the 375 has always been my main caliber. The same type of handle as mine, that is Bill243, 270Jack etc. seems to be used by many otherws as well.
Like you, I have never really thought the privacy thing was a real issue.
Mike McGuire

John, I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you! H***, they probably have a file on all of us here! I try not to worry about it, and if we do speak sedition, I'm reminded of some seditionist who put their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor on the line by signing a document 225 years ago this week.
7mmbuster
