I just bought a 336 in 375Win. Always wanted one in 356 but could never find one. This will have to do. What years were the 375's built? They are pretty hard to find, but not so hard as the 356.

The model 375 was made 1980-1983, and 16,315 of them were made which explains why you don't see them too often.
I passed one up @ 300 a couple years ago and have kicked myself ever since. SW

That's a fine carbine you got yourself. I finally picked one up last year and I love it. I'd like to find one of those elusive 356's also, but I doubt I'll have enough $$ when I do.

Did Marlin ship any 375's in the model 336, or were they all model 375's? If so, do you know how many? Just curious.

The 375 was only offered in the one model and was produced as described above. SW

Got one last year and OMG love it; its the model 375 and I have been using Wisconsin Cartridge factory loads 220gr and a leupold 2-7x33. Its quickly becoming a favorite, though won't replace my GG. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Will probably use on Mulies.

What all is avaliable for factory loads in 375 Win?

If I can find a good load I may not even set up to reload this baby. Although I think most factory bullet weights are too low.A 300 gr would be nice.



Also,..what's a good peep/aperature sight for these rifles?

I once had a '94 Winchester 30-30(can I say that in this forum?)with a Redfield peep, but I can't find any reference to Redfield building sites these days.

My 375 didn't like the Winchester 200gr factory, but does great with the Wisconsin Cartridge 220gr factory. I think at one time Georgia Arms made loaded 375s, but haven't been able to find them on line lately- had bought some .444 factory loads from them a few years back-don't know of any others.

I bought 5 boxes of Wisconsin cartridge company ammo with the 220 flat tip. I've shot about 3 boxes so far and am very impressed with the 100 yard groups. It shoots about an inch and a half lower than the Winchester 200's but holds a tighter group by 3/4" or so. I emailed WCC a while back and they said the fps should be 1970 in a 20" barrel. A friend of mine gave me 5 boxes of once fired big bore ammo and I have quite a few of my own brass all with the winchester head stamp. Recently got the dies and a bottle of Reloader 7.

Depends on your load. I use Accurate's load data for AA1680 and the Hornady 220, and get 2230fps with 3.4fps Standard Deviation and 200 yard groups under 3". This load gives me a 205 yard Maximum Point Blank Range for a 6" kill zone, +3.0 at 100. My scope is a 4x.

Marlin made two version 336's in 375.
1) Pre-cross bolt model: 336/375
2) Cross bolt model: 336/375S.

what should one pay for a marlin in 375 win, at 95 percent condition?

don't give up on the marlin 356. I found one this weekend at a gunshow. I gave $300 for it. Someone had put a shiney finish on the stock and the blueing was a little light on the barell.

Ballpark - $300
($25 more for a .356 in same condition)

Geez, if you can get one in good shape for $300, that would be great. I thought I did OK getting mine with a lyman peep sight, reloading dies and 4 bx's brass for $400. The peep sight went on my 444Marlin.

Redfield made a fine sight, but it is out of production. My favorite receiver sight these days is the Lyman 66LA, but Williams and others make good ones, too. I much prefer the click-adjustable models, though they do cost a bit more.

I'm also partial to pairing that receiver sight with a Marble's "Sourdough" front sight, rather than a bead. They are available from Brownell's .

As for a Marlin 375....if you find one for less than $400 and don't buy it then you are not tuned to the market-channel you are watching the QVC channel.



If your depending on BLUE BOOK...what a joke...do not expect to pay ANY amount below $600 for a Marlin in lever action 356. You might find one for less than $600 but NOT likely in your current life time. Even the Winchester lever's in 356 are bringing premium $$$$: you'll be able to find a Win in 356 before you'll find a Marlin.




Do a search on ANY SITE find a Marlin 356 for what is suggested here($300)...it'll be gone before spit hits the ground... and the buyer will laugh all the way to the bank because the seller was as stupid as a fence post!

If you want to depend on 'Blue book' values for firearms...then take up fishing.

Here's are two tip for you 'book' value lovers:

1) if a gun dealr E-V-E-R pays you max 'Blue' book value for your firearm THEN HE KNOWS WHERE HE CAN SELL IT FOR MORE $$$ THAN WHAT HE'S PAYING YOU...duh!

2) When an FFL pulls out his BLUE book on the firearm you want to sell him here's the spue: "Well, you gun is valued at [I am going to use small money amounts in order to KISS] $10 but I can not buy it for $10, lug it around, Ghod, knows to how many gun shows and hope I can make some money on it; about the best I can do is about $5-$7!"

Lugging around to gun shows rings a bell, and touches a soft spot in your heart and so you blink in compassion...because there is some truth to what he says but there is a motive behind that partial truth...

So in many cases he'll buy it for $5-$7. Now here is the kick in the pants: next tme you see him and the gun you sold him out of a touch of compassion, is on his table for $19.95...well don't be mad at the dealer: look in a mirror, that's who you should be upset with...

I grew up in a gun shop, and was a dealer myself. You're talking "internet prices". Lots of 375's are being bought and sold for prices that are in line with the Blue Book values out here on terra firma.

A disciplined buyer can't be in a hurry unless he has money to burn. Auctions are not generally the place to save greenbacks. There are always down-to-earth deals to be found. Read the posts in just this thread alone, and you'll see evidence of that.

I agree with you, 'net' price's can and often do exceed gun show prices or gun shop prices but where the 'net' excells is finding those hard to find calibers that "almost never" show up at a gun show or in a gun shop, i.e., lever actions in .22mag, 307, 356, 358, 375!

And in many cases new caliber rifles than "almost never" show up on local dealers shelves, i.e., Ruger stainless rifles in 350 Mag...

You're right. and what galls me is I've tried to sell some of my stuff on 'free' sites such as this, at a fair market value and in nearly every case at a price lower than auction values...and nary a nibble. And when I study Auction Arms and Gunbroker and in some cases I find my prices are $50-$100 lower than the SELLING auction price for the same make and caliber which I have and post and doesn't even get a nod <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> on a free site <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />...... just not in the right place at the right time I guess... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
