I'm looking for a few AR mags. What's the most reliable durable 30 round mags for the money? Thanks, John

C-Products makes a decent mag and it's cheap. You can pay $50+ for a mag but it isn't going to work any better than a $12 C-Products mag with anti-tilt follower. I've got a pile of them and they all function 100%

Reliable and durable= Magpul P Mag
Best fit/finish/quality and reliable conventional (non poly) mags IMO are the NHMTG 30 rounders with Magpul followers installed. These are factory mags for Colt,Rock River and others. I also believe the COlt marked mags are made by NHMTG.
Brownells 30 rounders with the Magpul followers also have a good reputation.
Lot of people like the D&H 30's but I have no experience with them.

I have used D&H & CProducts and haven't had a problem with either.
P-mags are great if you can find them

Any of the GI mags (except Cooper) with a Magpul follower installed in them are GTG. I have a few Magpul P-mags and they're working with no problems but they haven't been around long enough for me to sell off my GI's.
Cooper's were the only company to get it's contract pulled for making too many out of spec mags.

P-mags are nice but.... they are not bullet proof nor have they been around long enough to know what they will do in say 10 years.
There have been mags with cracks in the web, a few feed lips broken and even some that seemed to have swelled to the point of not dropping free.
Magpul is a stand up company and has replaced any problem mags, even mags that show no problems but were made prior the latest revision.
I still reccomend them and use them but for the most trouble free mag made get some straight 20 round GI mags with the alloy follower. If you have to have 30 rounders get good GI mags as I stated above and replace the follower with a Magpul follower. Test your P-mags over the next 40 years and we'll see how they do but get several time proven GI mags just in case.
Get em now while you can.

I have several differnt types - my "money" is on the milspec aluminum mags with magpul followers though. I have too many mags and that's what I recommend for others. The P-mags that I have are slick but not proven yet - and they must have the cap in place for long-term storage loaded which is kind of a negative IMHO.
If I needed mags I'd get the C-mags or brownells or similar - just look for the magpul followers.
