Recently found 24hr and have been trolling for the last month. I am in the process of putting together a 22-250 to be used for target and varmit out to 300+ yards. I'm to the point that I'm looking for optics. I'm thinking that that I would like 4-12 or possibly more. One of the observations is that it seems that you can pick up a used Leup or Zeiss for about the same price as a new Bushnell (Elite) or Nikon. I'm interested in opinions on the prospect of buying new versus used. Thanks for your input. If someone has what you think is a great deal let me know.

I'm not afraid of used in the least and prefer Leupold or Zeiss to Bushnell and Nikon.

I would go with either the Bushnell 3200 or 4200 or Nikon Monarch. I have both on my rifles and neither have given me a problem. I have seen problems with the last few years with Leoplold that I would avoid them new or used. They may have a good warnety but the hassel to ship optics back is not worth it. Zeiss I would buy new but not a used optic in any of them.

Of the dozen or so Leupolds I have 90% came to me used. Some are at least 40 years old. Only one needed repair and it was broke when I got it. No tellig what/where that scope has been as it only has a five digit serial number.
Factory had it back to me in under 2 weeks no questions ask. Only cost to me was shipping there.
Try that with a 40 year old Bushnell. lol

Thanks for the input and welcome to the site. Sounds like it is time to get patient and see what I can find in the used category.
