I can't seem to get a handle on pit beans. Too sweet or too spicy. KC is well known for BBQ. Arthur Bryant's, Gates, KC Masterpiece, ect. Understand that these famous places spawned many excellent BBQ spots. In the 70's we sometimes ate at The Smokestack BBQ for their pit beans. They moved to the south suburbs (Martin City) and still had great beans and those onion rings stacked on a stick to look like a cone. Then they franchised to Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ. I recently found their BBQ bean recipe on the food channel. It is pork and bean easy and serves in 30min. We think that it is excellent. Google The Food Network, search Jack Stack Beans in recipes for the recipe. Good luck.
