A buddy has one with a 24" #3 contour Hart barrel. Shoots 140gr VLDs well. Has tried IMR4064: 40, 41, and 42gr with 1.25-1.5" groups. Wants to drill a few groundhogs. Anything you like that works?

I use H4350 with 120 grainers in a .260 Kimber M84M. When I tried 95 grain V-maxes, I first used Varget. They grouped well, but about 1.5 inches away from the 120s. I then tried the starting load of H4350 (from the Hodgdon manual) with the V-max and got good groups and a zero point within 1 inch of the 120s. I've since shot about 500 rounds of the H4350/95Grain V-max, never moved off the starting load, and have been very satisfied. And I don't have to twist scope turrets.

I have found the 95 grain VMax to be a little particular about the barrel throat length and condition, in that a load that shoots lights-out in 1 rifle, won't shoot very good groups in another rifle, same make/model, but with a slightly rough/worn throat. It also seems to shoot better in my rifles at maximum or close to maximum load then it does at maximum minus 5%.
I've had good luck with a heavy load of H4895 and my 24" 260 is clocking 3360 FPS, +/- 15 FPS, using reformed 243 Winchester/Olin brass. For some reason it has generally been easier for me to find the "sweet spot" for the 100 grain BT then for the 95 grain VMax, but it shoots lights-out if you find the right combination of components and seating depth for your particular rifle.

I have found it very easy to develop accurate loads with the 95 gr. V-max in three 260's I had/have. I load up to a solid 3200+fps out of 22" barrels using RL 15,RS Big Game and Hunter. It is a great woodchuck bullet/cartridge.

I haven`t tried the V-Max but I`ve had real good results with both of Noslers 100gr bullets and H4350 in the 260. I`d think it would be a good powder to look at for the 95 gr.

I've had real good luck with 100 grain Partitions and H4350 in mine. But thats not a powder that is Dillon Friendly
So for the varmint load, I use Varget, or RS Hunter. Add powder until your 22" tube chrono's 3200 and there's your load.

I have loaded a lot of 100 grain Normas and used Ramshot Big game and Varget with great success.

Thanks for the info, guys. Out of Varget at my favorite emporium, so he tried some 4064 as described above. Today, he tried 43gr, and it seems to want to work. Called Hornady today, and they like RL15, which I have a bunch of. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again. I'll take all the advice I can get.
