Depends. That was nib. Collector material. These are relatively rare little 22.s and are worth a premium. The last one I saw sell was not nib and sold for $600 so I don't think the price you had there was out of line. High, maybe, not not really very much.

Even @ 750.00 if a guy wants one, that's a good buy. New in the box with the right case. WOW! Trouble with it is I would just have to hunt it.

Makes a guy wish he had bought one when the locale shops had them on sale for under 200.00 bucks, but then that was in the "good old days". I can't even remember the good old days if it doesn't relate to gun prices , ammo and reloading components.

You would think after all the decades that Marlin slapped all that plain Jane wood on the 39's they would get some decent Wood out. Nice wood.

....Shoot my little 39Carbine take down ought to be worth quite a bit then!? Mine has the straight stock but is a more trim & compact model I'd guess than the TDS. It was built for just two years 1966 and 1967. I bought mine for $125.00 from a lady I worked with after her husband died, she sold his firearms.

I knew it! It's not so much what you know, but who you know.
Excellent tip, should I ask what the finders fee was, Fifth of Makers Mark, date with your sister??
and I agree, I would like to see the measurements of Ol' Hippie's carbine and compare them to the TDS.

....The "MARLIN 39 CARBINE" as it is so marked on the barrel, measures 36&1/2" overall length from muzzle to butt plate, and has a 19 & 5/8" barrel length. The "carbine" stock does appear, from viewing the TDS photos on this tread, to be a slimmer version, particularly the fore stock. The Carbine version I have also has a rounded lever rather than a square ended one as the TDS versions pictured have. No checkering on the smooth stock of the carbine. The tubular magazine on the carbine stops 3" short of the muzzle, but that may be due to a longer barrel if the TDS has a 16 & 1/2" barrel.
