A 20" 7-08 troubles me none and I've much love for my S/S Seven so chambered.

A 22" Faux Ti is tough to beat, unless going Real Ti of the first generation,if you can find one.

The 168TSX will do that nicely and you've the 168A-Max to fall back on for play.

Yes.
I have had good luck with the 140gr TSX out of my 270Roy.
Very effective on Muleys.

I still miss the .308" 165XLC and may shed a tear when my stash dries up.

I was thinkin my 243 barrel was 20" but it was 18.5"

Wish you could get a Ti stock for a model 7. I'd be all over it. Edge would be nice just not this year. Can't complain though, the little sucker shoots like a 10# gun. On my scale it goes 6.5# with wood stock,Talley's,BC's, and 6X Leupold. Gone under .5MOA both times I shot it with 45gr. of '15 and molyed 120's. Now off the bench and in the game.

I used to shoot the 225gr XLC out of my 340Roy.
That was a fast bullet with a case full of RL22.

The Seven's weight savings are now easily offset in a 700,with the availability of Ti takeoff's and the like. From inception, the Seven's bane has been it's handles.

I love all of mine, though all are restocked.

The 340Wby is simply a sensational chambering and for the gent who can drive one,it do open alotta windows of opportunity. While I much prefer the 338Ultra's case design, there's no flies on the 340.

Assuming she ain't in a Weatherby rifle.

Keep thinking of building a 338 Lapua . . . . . . . .

No good reason . . . .

But like the Whelen and the 6.5-284, its an itch that wants to be scratched.

I'd not retire a Pet 340Wby for an Ultra, but were I building from scratch,it wouldn't be on an H&H hull.

+1!

IMO, the 18.5" barrel was on the small side, too. I like them much better with the 20+.

I've not handled one with a 20" barrel but believe you guys that say they are nice. I do know it's night and day "to me" going from 18.5" to 22".

I toted an 18" 308Win 600 from Hell to breakfast and my under 20" beef is noise, not ballistics.

That whether it a turnbolt germane thus far to the discussion or an AR.
