One of the local boys who graduated with my son just returned from Iraq after more than a year there. His friend met him at the airport, and proceeded to hit the bars on the way home. The two friends had too much to drink, and were racing down a country road at speeds of 100 mph+. The driver lost control of the truck, and both boys were killed in the resultant accident. Man, this really breaks my heart, to live through the war in Iraq, and then die in a senseless accident. Really a sad, sad irony.

It still amazes me that some of us survived our youths.

I'm sorry to hear that. Certainly a tragedy.
