Who here has put open sights on a Kimber rifle? I was thinking of putting a set on a .300 win Monatana for backup purposes. I'd imagine a band would be the best way to go with a thin barrel.
Post pictures if you have them.
Were there any changes in zero or accuricy after installing the sight?
What style did you go with.

Better use of funds is to get QD mounts and bring a back up, pre-zeroed scope.

Wisam,
Adding sights will probably change the point of impact because the addition of that weight will change the harmonics of the barrel. You may also have to work up your load again.

I believe Kimber is using NEGC for open sights on their .375 Caprivi and Talkneeta rifles. Might try there if you're set on it?

I've had QD mounts for a while and do have a second scope, but sometimes if you've been in fog and drizzle for a few days, the lenses fog over on the outside anyways. You can always wipe it off, but if the temp drops below freezing after you're lenses get soaked then it's a bit more complicated.
On the other hand, no one has come on saying theat they have opens on their kimber so maybe that is saying something.

Wisam, I'd listen to Headache - he's a Kimber expert...

Wisam, Having a backup system in camp, expecially if its a remote locate isn't a bad thought. I've taken a Leupie 4x along lightly mounted in another set of Talley LW's for my Kimber Montana. Not only is it there if need be, but I'm not limited to any lesser shooting distance. Besides my backpack scabbard doesn't like iron sights being slid in and out. Just a thought.
