.......you've seen the commercials......tickets to the game-$100......hotdog-$6.....4 glasses of beer-$20...or something like that.....then they always end it with something a credit card can't buy, and say "it's priceless".....
...well...........I had a few of those priceless moments lately, the very reasons I moved West. But one in particular stands out.
Let me start by saying I appreciate those of you that mailed and asked where I have been,...the answer, the last two weeks has mostly found me in the backcountry with my horses....just taking it all in.
And that leads to the "priceless moment" that stands out for me. A very good friend spent several of those days back-in with me, some of you know him, either by Buzz...or LMH. We found ourselves all over the southern tier of the state of Wyoming, scouting for Antelope, Deer and Elk.......but for an instant, all of time seem to stop, ...we were sipping cold ones under the stars, kicking the campfire, having a few laughs, high in the wilderness....and for a time, nothing else in the world mattered....but two guys, the time they shared, the demise of elk they planned, and the bond they formed out of common interest and like views on much life had to offer. Buzz said the areas I showed him was some of the most beautiful he had seen, including his home state of Montanna. It was truely a priceless time, and will be filed away with other like memorys that I will always cherish.
How 'bout it,...anyone else had any "priceless moments" lately?

Your post is something I have often relected upon. As I look back on my life I realize the things that made me the happiest had little to do with money. This is especially true as I age.

4PWR......I'm only 40 years young, but was lucky enough to learn your point a few years back....since then, I quit working weekends, and started to take more time for myself....after all I only have about 40 more good seasons left, right?!
Supernova.....if your friend you met was anything like mine, it made all the time I spent on the net worth it.....for I never would have met him otherwise, and I know we will spend countless hours afield in the coming years. We have already planned several hunts, including one back to his home state of Montanna next year....

Buzz is a smart guy, smarter than you know! .....that's what I like about him. And for those that don't know, as Buzz doesn't like to brag....he's killed enough elk and deer to fill up a small warehouse...I know, I've seen the racks!
he's also killed the things many of us are still just dreaming of... Sheep and Goats!
And here's the kicker.....his wife not only is his hunting partner, but she's beautiful to boot!

My most recent priceless moment came when, for the first time, I was able to stand in the HUGE open space. These are only the kind that can be found in the middle of nowhere and not seeing another human being. THe fact that I could see for miles made it all the better. That to me was priceless. Now that I have the taste, I can't wait for more.

No, I'm not dead, but there must be something going wrong with the server at school. I haven't gotten an email of any sort for two days. That is especially weird if you've ever surfed for porn.

.........1-Pointer...surfing for porn?......I can't believe you!........er, send me a link if you find something good!
Indy....I love you man!....you know you'll always be my first!......Buzzy is just in training for being "Camp b!tch!"
We went out yesterday to a knew spot....one no one's ever been to! and hit the mother load! We saw a [bleep] of elk and about a half dozen muley bucks between 22 and 28 inches(still growing in velvet)all of them alone, and all were sighted in high alpine areas right after noon! I would hate to think what we would see early or late there! That was the 3rd major area we've scouted in the last two weeks....and have one or two more to look at in the next couple of weeks. The hardest part is making a choice to camp.......it's all so prime....tough call.
You keep you @ss running, cause the only thing that can keep you from tagging your bull when you get to our camp is your lungs....and I think Buzz can affirm that!
......I can dog ol' Buzzy about being camp-b!tch or anything else I want here, because I can't get him to register to post here.....I think he is having too much fun dogging some of the people at the other site ......

Opening day of deer season every year. I always hunt with my buddy Joe. We always meet at his house. I bring a box of those powdered donuts with the raspberry filling. We don't plan or confirm anything in advance. I just show up at about 6am, go in the back door and take my boots off by the dryer. I shout into the house that I am there and head for the kitchen. Joe's wife, Anna, is an early riser and has breakfast ready (she doesn't know about the donuts in the truck). Joe always (and I mean always) says "hey man" when he first sees me. We eat three pounds of bacon and eggs with coffee. Anna makes the weirdest coffee. Always some foo-foo flavor, like Vanilla Almond Mint or Chocolate Strawberry Truffle. But we always talk about how good it is and she beams with pleasure. We finish up, get our boots on and head out. We swing by the Texaco station on the way, dump the flavored coffee out of the thermos and refill with normal. Joe has to pay for that since he's not man enough to ask his wife for regular. Then we dig into the donuts, spilling white powdered sugar down our fronts. We arrive at the same spot as the previous year, smelling of bacon grease and coffee and start hunting. When we get out of the truck, one of us will say to the other "Same deal as last year?" referring to our annual agreement that I won't shoot him if he won't shoot me. It's a good deal. We never get anything on opening day because we talk too much, stink like a restaurant, and the weather is generally way too warm.
But the day is priceless.

Went scouting for Mountain Goats last weekend. Spent 3 hours watching a group of 47 of them at about 13,000 feet in elevation. Most of them were nannies and little ones, but there was one big billy off to the side. Watching the little ones play and jump on the rocks made my week. Hope I can fing the billy in Sept.
Mac
