I am curious as to what everyone uses to mount scopes on their Cooper 52 rifles. The rifle comes with Leupold bases, but the pictures show a very long ring spacing that might be very limiting as to scope selection, and scope position.Without going to extension rings, are there other bases or mount systems available for the Cooper 52.I am planning on mounting a Swarovski AV 3x10x42 on my Jackson Humter.

I used talley lightweights......I really like the one piece ring and base idea......like someone else said, "When I started using talleys, my scope problems disappeared."

Talley has all versions.
You are right about the ring spacing. The Leupy 2.5-8 won't work, but the 3.5-10 will.
As I recall, someone called Gary at Talley and got a different front base that made the 2.5-8 Leupy work.

I have Talleys on my Coopers and they work great. WhelenAway is correct. You can call Gary (he is NOT hard to reach), tell him specifically what rifle and scope you have, and he'll make sure you get the right pieces the first time. I had an issue with ring spacing on one of mine and he corrected it immediately. could have saved some time if I called him first.

Sweet, fire up your phone and get me 1" 700 LW's that'll nestle the 6x42's objective onto a Mountain Rifle contour.
Though of course I'm not holding my breath and I doubt I have more than a few dozen Talley clad rifles.

The first generation M52s had very wide ring spacing. Cooper discovered their error and after about serial number 300, the ring spacing became about 3/8" to .5" closer together. Pretty significant and the cause for the early photo shoots to have the super wide ring spacing.

I have two M52s, both with Leupold extended rings and VX-III 2.5x8 scopes, so they did work on mine. FWIW
