Getting a predator and stiller has the bolt/handle in black oxide & the grey colored armoloy. I like the black oxide and was wondering if one finish is better than the other? anyone know the diference?

Stiller says the black oxide holds up a little better. That black against the stainless action is a killer!!!!!! Got a couple on order with the black bolt!

Anyone got pics of stainless guns with black bolts? I will in 6 months. Though I have looked thru the "blueprints" and could not find the stainless stiller with black oxide bolt. If you find a pic of one, let me know.

I believe that he is using Melonite QPQ on some of his stuff. It is very hard and slick. Good stuff. Butch

I picked up two predator .308s today. Both with black bolts. They are sweet! They'll likely be all black cerakote in the end though

I am able to pick mine up from the FFL tomorrow.
I looked at the bolt briefly and wasn't thrilled about the whole bolt assembly being black.
I'll post some pics in the next few days before it gets shipped to Kampfeld.

I didn't check one of the replies that has a link to the sniperhide link: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=794814&page=7Much better pics than I have. After inspecting the action closer I am pretty pleased. My issue with the black is that it has a good contrast against an all stainless gun, but on a black matte that semi shiny bolt seems weird. Just my 2cents.

Go the the website. I have new pics showing the black bolts. The black is black iron nitride qpq. Tradenames are melonite and kolene qpq I believe. Very hard and anti gall. I like it better then the armolloy. You have to be very careful who puts it on though and make sure the temp is low enough to not ruin the tempers. www.viperactions.com.
