Does anyone have any advise on building a rod dryer? Has anyone built one? Any information would be helpful.

Yes. I built one that's the proper height to line up with my guide winding jig. I used a rotisserie motor purchased from a thrift store for about $3.00. Turns about 4 rpm. A 2" piece of surgical tubing is slipped on to the moter spindle and then joined with the rod. My motor is a little noisy, so I run it on the dining room table overnight while all are snug in bed.
I believe one can find some battery powered motors in some of the fly fishing catalogs too.

like 1minute said. i use a rotisserie motor that i bought at home depot that was for an out door grill.it is electric and it is easy to make a coupler and a stand to support the rod while it is being used.
