OK, ive got some questions about this cartridge. To start off, ive got a Encore frame with a SMI smokeless muzzleloader barrel. Im wanting to get a rifle barrel so I can shoot it a little more often, but primarly just for coyotes.

I would like to shoot the 75gr Hornady A-Max bullet at 3600-3700 fps. I figured if I sighted that in 2" high at 100yds I could just hold on the target to 350-400 yards. I would go with a Broughton 5C 29" straight taper 1". Just want to get some general information on this cartridge like barrel life (if you treat it good), and max velocity.

I did a search a saw Mr. Ken Howell recovering from a surgery and im a newb and completly missed what was going on there. I shot him a email but i dont expect that anytime soon because im sure theres more important things for him to do right now.

Thanks for the info in advance Mark.

Run turrets and you won't have to worry about drop. Not sure those bullets will survive 3700fps.

Can't see where one would need a dump truck of powder to shoot 400 yards.

Good luck.

Ive got turrent scopes, but usually my encounters happen so fast I dont have much time to adjust anything. I missed 2 this past year because of it.

Run it 2.5" high at 100 and you'll be 2.5" low at 350, but that's only using a silly 223AI from a 21" tube and burning about half the powder.

Apparently I forgot the fact that I suck at math. I gave you MOA adjustments not drop, my bad.

Looking at about 8" of drop at 350 or about 3" more than the Howell.

22/250 should split the difference just fine and grant you copious amounts of data and plenty of brass.

Some stuff hits a point of diminishing returns and 22/250 is at that wall with 22 caliber bullets IMO.

You gotta do what makes you happy in the end.

Get you a 220 Swift barrel for your Encore and don't look back

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.
