My 1937-38 R has 1" u series rings on it. I was under the impression pre war scopes were smaller than 1".If so they could not be factory. I posted this question on the optics forum, and it was suggested that I check Stroebels book but I don't have access to one. Thanks for any info. Tom W

Weaver's first 1" was in 1947. There might have been others before that but checking every manufacture that was in production before that time would take a lot of study.

I would guess that the 1" didn't start till after WWII.
