I'm shooting some bullets in my 10mm auto pistol that are not in QuickLOAD (Stonewall bullet co.), so I created a new bullet file. I'm presently using some Vihtavuori powder, and I want to get the Ba value such that QL's prediction matches my chronographed velocity.

The measurements, etc., for this bullet are easily made and input to QL. What I'm curious about is what QL 'assumes' about bullet friction and so forth. Most things I use QL for are bottleneck rifle cases firing jacketed bullets. I am under the impression that the friction between bullet and barrel is different when using cast bullets vs. jacketed. Should I make my bullets 'friction-proofed' or take some other step(s) to address this, or is it immaterial within the context of QL does?

P.S. I have tried to simply find some other cast bullet in an existing file and use that, but don't seem to be able to find the/an appropriate 180-grain cast lead bullet?

Wouldn't the 175 gr Lyman LFN bullet be close enough for a starting point?

I really don't know. I don't cast my own bullets, and I don't know whose molds this outfit uses. I do note that the load data in my Lyman 48th manual shows noticeably different charges for their two 175gr. cast bullets, so I thought that, if 2 175s could be that different, how much more different would they be to my 180?

I suppose it's not so terribly important. More of a curiosity and precision thing?
