An auction just ended tonight on Gunbroker for a real beauty. High bid was $1000 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> and the reserve was NOT met. I'd love to have one, but not for that kind of money.

You're gonna' hate this, but I found one, with the original box, in a local shop, SE PA, for $350 with sales tax, fees, etc. , 3 months ago. AND it was on the reduced for quick sale table, LOL. Couldn't pick it up fast enough! Cheers, R*2

I have a Winchester model 94 in 356 Win. I can't wait until I can find a Marlin in 356 Win. I'm not crazy about the model 94.
Take nothing I say personal, remember....it's just the interweb!

Wanting a 336 ER is a a pretty tentative position to be in. As was mentioned before they go for quite a sum on auction sights, and several gunshops have caught on to the profit that can be had. If you are lucky enough (like Russe11) to stumble up on one, wow, more power to you.
It is one of the best investments a fellow can make if you can find one for $500 to $700. I fished mine up for $600 about a year ago. I'll have to tell you it is a beauty.
You know, it could be that we are in the midst of an artifically inflated market regarding the 336ER. It seems that the prices went up so quickly they may well come down in a few months. I guess it just depends on demand.
Continue to watch the auction sights and put the word out to as many gunshops as you think is prudent. It may take a while but it will happen. Expect to pay at least $600.

Or, for a 356 to shoot, you can pay Regan Nonneman around $100 to rechamber almost any Marlin 336 in 35 Remington to 356. I'm looking for a 336SC or 336SD in 35 Remington just for that reason. Meanwhile, I have a 336C that Nonneman rechambered and it works fine.
